Landform Design Institute Short Course

December 5, 2025

Last week I had the pleasure of both attending and presenting at the Landform Design Institute’s short course on Landform Design.

It was great to experience the energy that can come from a room full of people with different expertise and common goals. It was fun to share in the creativity of those people in addressing the challenges of mine closure.

I got asked perhaps the oddest question I’ve ever been asked after giving a talk: how do we know what’s aesthetic to a moose or caribou? A question that underscores the complexity of the challenges we face in transitioning mines to new (or old) land uses.

Thank you to LDI for inviting me to present.
